Our Commitment

CityTides is committed to making local information available to as many people as possible, including those who use assistive technologies such as screen readers, screen magnifiers, or keyboard navigation. We believe access to local weather, safety, and community information should work for everyone.

Conformance Goal

We aim to follow the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Levels A and AA, which describe how to make web content more accessible to people with a wide range of disabilities. As a small, continuously updated site, we treat accessibility as an ongoing effort rather than a one-time achievement, and we work to improve it over time.

What We Do

  • Use standard, semantic HTML so the site works with screen readers and keyboards;
  • Aim for readable text with sufficient color contrast;
  • Provide text labels for interactive controls like buttons and form fields;
  • Design layouts that adapt to phones, tablets, and desktops, and to larger text sizes.

Known Limitations

Some content on CityTides comes from third parties โ€” including maps, advertising, embedded data, and photos uploaded by users โ€” and we cannot guarantee the accessibility of content we do not control. For user-uploaded listing photos, we rely on the listing's title and description to convey what the photo shows, since we cannot ensure the quality of user-provided image descriptions.
